The first major monograph by French artist Jean-Philippe Delorme.

"Paintings" contains 175 works produced between 2012 and 2022, organized by studio and location (New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Asnières outside Paris, and Paris).

At the end of the 1980s, when painting in general and figurative work in particular seemed inadequate for the art world, Jean-Philippe Delorme turned his attention to printed matter. In the 1990s, he created a series of illustrations using gouache (opaque watercolors) for an advertising campaign for Barneys, a luxury department store in New York City. Delorme is the author of a book of essays and a novel, and he contributes and illustrates his own columns combining wit and social commentary for magazines in France and abroad. Alongside these explorations, he has continued to produce paintings of landscapes and of friends and family. At a time when painting is once again coming into its own in the art world, particularly through narrative figuration, Delhomme eschews narrative and instead depicts the very existence of people and objects without any stylization whatsoever.
