About sample sale

The sample sale is coming to an end soon, but we hope you are all enjoying it.

Although it may be a little late, we would like to briefly explain how IACK is holding its sample sale and what sample products are, providing some facts about the situation.

[What is a sample sale?]

IACK does not generally hold sales, as we want to respect those who regularly purchase our collections at full price.

On the other hand, we hope that the sale will encourage more people to purchase and read the collection, and that our customers will be able to enjoy more collections at a better price.

Therefore, IACK has started a sample sale on Culture Day, focusing on books that have been used for viewing or damaged books, with the hope that viewing the works will become a part of everyday life.

[What is a sample book?]

Although it is called a sample book, in reality, there are generally no sample books in the collection of works.

In the case of private publishing, which is the main focus of IACK, the print run is as low as a few dozen copies, and at most several thousand copies per print run. In some cases, stock is prepared for viewing, but in most cases, one of the purchased products is used for viewing. This one copy is, of course, a product purchased with payment as usual, and is one of the limited number of copies produced as mentioned above.

These two points are one of the reasons why bookstores that stock anthologies don't like their books being handled carelessly.

Due to this reason, some of the books we purchase cannot be sold as new. (We may sell them as they are if they have already been sold out by the publisher or depending on their condition. Of course, the standards vary depending on the bookstore.)

At IACK's sample sales, these books are discounted as "samples," and as an added bonus, some used and rare books are also sold at a slight discount. This creates an opportunity for sellers to have a place for books that are not in perfect condition, and for consumers to purchase books at a bargain price.

[About the book's condition]

Generally, we put plastic covers on books that are intended for viewing, but we do not put plastic covers on books that we cannot physically cover or whose appeal would be diminished if the texture were to be lost.In addition, we sometimes cannot keep up and are unable to cover all the books, so these books develop wear, scratches, and discoloration over time.

If you are purchasing for collection purposes, we recommend purchasing a new copy, but if your purpose is to simply appreciate the work, I think a sample copy will be perfectly fine.

However, some items are in like new condition while others may have stains, so please feel free to contact us if you would like more information.

Buying a collection of works

I don't think there are many people who can buy all the books they want to read or want, so browsing through collections in stores is a very important way to enjoy or study collections.

The owner of the store does a lot of browsing at other stores, and browsing is also welcome at IACK. However, the way you see and understand the works is completely different when you browse while standing than when you actually buy a collection and read it carefully at home.

I think one of the important reasons to actually buy a book is that you can read it in private without worrying about the eyes of others or the time, and you can read it over and over again, whenever you want, regardless of the era.

Currently, the sample sale is held at a different time of year than Culture Day due to overlapping events, but our desire to establish the enjoyment of art pieces as a part of culture remains unchanged.

The sample sale will be held until midnight on Wednesday. We hope that this opportunity will encourage people to enjoy the collection in a more familiar setting.
