Another Europe ANOTHER CONTINENT

Exhibition catalogue for the group exhibition "Another Europe ANOTHER CONTINENT," held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum from January 28 to March 22, 1994.

This exhibition, held as the final project at the first facility, introduced eight artists from "Central Europe," including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, and the Czech Republic, for the first time in Japan, rather than the Western European works that had been introduced up until then. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and the European Union was founded in 1993, amidst political, economic, and ethnic problems. This exhibition focuses on the revival of expressions from the region that shared a cultural identity before the East-West wall was built, and attempts to reconsider the concept of "Europe" and photography as artistic expression in Europe.

The project was carried out in collaboration with the Austrian arts organisation Forum Stadtbarg and the camera magazine Camera Austria.
