You Can Call Me Nana by Will Harris
A collection of works by American photographer Will Harris.
A personal yet universal family memoir, this book tells the story of Harris' grandmother Evelyn, who suffered from dementia in her later years. As her memories fade, her life and fiction collide, and a new relationship with her grandson blossoms, the young photographer becomes an old friend, a new connection is formed, and Harris begins to feel her grief. I created this work while trying to deal with it. At times poignant and at times hilarious, the book weaves together a family chronicle through the use of photographs and collages that include scenes from a multigenerational Pennsylvania home. Along with his confusing and touching conversations with Nana, Harris sought to frame the missing pieces of her mind through photographic representation.
