Skinnerboox

A collection of works by Italian photographer Guido Guidi.

In this work, Guidi creates variations and shadows created by light at different times of the day and in different years, similar to his series of photographs of the Burion Cemetery, designed by architect Carlo Scarpa. I added dynamic elements to each aspect of the architectural work, depicting the changing geometric patterns reflected on the ground.

“Many times over the years I have photographed the same subject in both color and black and white. Walker Evans once said that there were many times he took a picture without knowing what he was doing. It was only later, when I saw the printed photos, that I realized that I had done what I needed to do.A few days ago, I was reading an essay by Umberto Eco, and he took a picture. He explained that someone who spends a lot of time in the world has stopped seeing things with his own eyes, which is why he stopped taking pictures. I think that extension is actually possible by taking pictures or painting. For me, taking pictures is a training to see things more carefully.” Guido Guidi
