The New Colonists by Monica Alcazar-Duarte

A collection of works by Monica Alcazar-Duarte, a British photographer based in London.

This book is based on a documentary about the quaint town of Mars, located in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, USA, and is made up of three elements: on-site scenes of research facilities such as the ESA (European Space Agency) and Mars Yards, and an AR experience using an app developed for this book. In the AR part, narration by Dr. Ian Crawford of Birkbeck College, University of London is played along with 3D animation.

When these three elements come together, even in the scenery of a typical rural town, one can sense the human passion for space exploration and the history of human development that comes with it.
