The Images of Luis Barragán by Mark Manders and Roger Willems
An artist book by Dutch artist Mark Manders and graphic designer Roger Willems, co-founders of Roma Publications.
The photographs in this book are part of the collection of Mexican architect Luis Barragán (1902–1988) and were displayed on a large wooden monk's pulpit in the living room of his house in Mexico City. The placement of this bulky piece of furniture—positioned in front of a large window overlooking the garden—offers insight into the peculiarities of Barragán’s thinking.
Mark Manders and Roger Willems stayed in Mexico City in January 2011 and photographed the images they found there, using the wooden floorboards of Barragán’s house as a backdrop. The book includes a text by Wonne Ickx.
This is Roma Publications’ 479th publication. First edition of 500 copies.
