The Images of Luis Barragán by Mark Manders and Roger Willems

A collection of works by Dutch artist Mark Manders and graphic designer Roger Willems, head of Roma Publications.

The photographs in this book are part of the collection of Mexican architect Luis Barragán (1902-1988) and were displayed on a large wooden monk's pulpit in the living room of his house in Mexico City. The arrangement of the somewhat bulky furniture, which takes up most of the room in front of a large window overlooking the garden, indicates the peculiarities of Barragán's thinking. Mark Manders and Roger Willems stayed in Mexico City in January 2011 and photographed the images they found there, with the wooden floorboards of Barragán's house as a backdrop. Text by Wonne Ickx.
