A collection of works by Oslo-based artist Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson.
This book features Johansson's collection of photos of sinkholes of various shapes and sizes (caused by underground cavities developing in limestone and dolomite areas and the collapse of the surface). Inspired by the human urge to control nature and the idea that the ground could open up and swallow us at any moment, Johansson created this work that evokes a sense of fragmentation and collapse. Although the images, in which manmade objects and natural phenomena collide, are the product of chance, when placed in context, they give the impression of land art or Mono-ha.
