(Signed) Dry Eye Driping Stone by Line Bøhmer Løkken
A photo book by Norwegian photographer Lina Bämmer Lokken.
A few years ago, Lokken's daughter lost sight in one eye due to a tumor around the optic nerve. This incident prompted Lokken to rethink her role as a photographer. She began to investigate what she believed to be both an optical and a tactile gaze in photography. With a delicate and playful approach, she attempted to blend the recognizable physical experience of texture and touch with more traditional semiotic and visual narratives. Printed on paper that weighs just 60 grams, the double-sided photographs bleed from one side to the other and blend into new, never-before-seen images. As a result, the book leaves the viewer with a multi-layered view, like the visual memories we store within us.
Locken has produced works that skillfully utilize the characteristics of exhibition spaces and the spaces inside and outside of books. His work with Multipress has further refined his expression, and in recent years he has reached the level of a master who can easily and precisely bring out the maximum potential of the book format through subtle choices.
