Santa Barbara Save Us by Alejandro Cartagena

Skinnerboox

A photobook by Mexican photographer Alejandro Cartagena.

Conceived as the final volume in a trilogy tracing the cultural turmoil that the United States experienced over the past four years, this work reflects the country’s uncertain present and future through images of fires, unsettling suburban scenes, and reproduced illustrations. Fragmentary images unfold one after another without any apparent connection, as if they are declaring that chaos itself is the truest expression of the current condition. The memorial-book-like design further suggests that the work is entrusted to future readers—those who will one day be able to look back on this era as part of history.

Limited edition of 750 copies.
