(Reprinted Edition) Daido hysteric no.4 by Moriyama Daimichi
Gallery COMMON & Akio Nagasawa Publishing
A complete reprint edition of a legendary photobook by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.
"Daido hysteric no.4 " was originally published in 1993 by the Japanese fashion brand Hysteric Glamour in a limited edition of 300 copies. Designer Nobuhiko Kitamura, deeply moved by Moriyama’s photobooks Light and Shadow (1982) and Farewell Photography (1972), approached Moriyama with an offer to publish a new book. Wishing to create a work composed entirely of vertical images, Moriyama spent about a year and a half producing an enormous body of photographs specifically for this project. Although published in only 300 copies, the book made Moriyama’s name known more widely than ever before—not only among existing photography enthusiasts but also among fashion lovers and international audiences.
This reprinted edition was produced by dismantling and scanning the original 1993 publication, with the goal of achieving the highest possible reproduction quality by today’s standards.
Limited reprint edition of 900 copies. Signed and numbered by the artist.
The over-300-page softcover, trimmed to the edge, possesses an extraordinary intensity; its overwhelming energy and graphic compositions helped define the very image of Daido Moriyama. A seminal work, now fully reissued.
