Part game, part essay collection, part abstract visual storybook—RAISING FROGS FOR $ $ $, Fulford’s third photobook, is carefully and rigorously designed, yet open to broad interpretation. “The intention behind the editing and layout is to create as many relationships as possible between the photographs and the chapters,” Fulford explains. “I like the idea of a meticulously planned-out event that remains unpredictable.”

The images—shot between 1997 and 2005 in various countries—are drawn from the artist’s personal archive. True to Fulford’s approach, the book unfolds like several books within one, with a structure that is playful yet precisely constructed.
