Natural Sources by Jochen Lempert
A photo book by German photographer Jochen Rempert.
With a background in biology, Rempert has been presenting his own photographic work for 35 years. Initially, he spoke without irony about the history and forms (or distortions) of the cultural fascination with the inexhaustible possibilities of plants and animals. But his interest gradually shifted to the phenomenon of perception and its transformation into images, the life forms of plants and animals, and the parallels between these and his own creative process. His photographs are minimalist, recorded with the simplest of means - an analog camera and photographic paper - yet full of poetic power and a deep knowledge of nature, the source of our existence. This book, produced as a follow-up to "Phenotype" published by the same publisher in 2013, is the artist's second large-volume collection of works.
