Ex Nihilo by Daniel Shea & OK-RM
A collection of works by the UK-based design unit OK-RM and American photographer Daniel Shea.
The book, titled "Ex Nihilo," which means "Out of Nothing" in Latin, was commissioned by the fashion brand "1017-ALYX-9SM." It is a work of fiction that thoroughly pursues innovative production processes and diverse output, unravelling the mystery of how various objects appear out of "nothing."
The share is a publication by OK-RM's own publishing company, InOtherWords, which features photographs of how the natural materials used in the clothes made by 1017-ALYX-9SM create structure. The print is made using offset and lithography, and the overlapping of the two printing techniques on the paper creates an organic image. The design approach, which includes a booklet and six posters in a folder, creates an installation-like finish using the book format. At the men's collection held in Paris in January 2019, models walked down the runway with the book in hand as part of the styling.
