Equivalences by Douglas Mandry

RVB Books

A collection of works by Swiss photographer Douglas Mandry.

In today's world, where digital technology continues to innovate, Mandry creates works that make extensive use of analog techniques, such as using classic photographic techniques and pasting prints that he cut himself. Inspired by postcards sent from the Middle East in the early 20th century, the series included in this book uses acrylic paints and an airbrush to create black-and-white photographs of the Cappadocian landscape. It is colored. Instead of simply copying them, this work attempts a new expression based on a mechanical process using color layers. The title of the book pays tribute to the famous work of Alfred Stieglitz, who is credited with creating the first series of abstract photographs, depicting vertical slices of sky and clouds. .
