Eldorado by Ruth Van Beek

A collection of works by Dutch artist Ruth van Beek.

Beeck is known for her collages using old manuals and found images. In this book, we see how she organizes and transforms her growing archive of photographic material. Specialist books and magazines from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s on bonsai pruning, cactus growing and Japanese flower arranging provide fodder for her quirky and playful collages. Beeck cuts and folds the photographs, sometimes adding watercolored paper shapes, creating visual connections between the images that are often disturbing or comical.
