Hysteric Six by Nakahira Takuma
A collection of works by Japanese photographer Takuma Nakahira.
This is the sixth photobook published by the Japanese fashion brand Hysteric Glamour, and is Nakahira's first photobook in over a decade since his previous work, ADIEU AX (1989). At this point, the style that characterizes Nakahira's later work - color positive film that eliminates traces of the artist's hand, precise focus, and vertical framing - was complete, and the images look just like a botanical encyclopedia. Nakahira's solo exhibition "Daily Life - Takuma Nakahira Present" held in June 1997 was the first exhibition to be composed of such photographs, and poet and critic Shino Kuraishi, who later curated the exhibition "Takuma Nakahira: Return to the Roots - Yokohama" (2003) at the Yokohama Museum of Art, recalls the exhibition as a historical event in photography, and a sharp interrogation of the history of photography itself. This is a major work that condenses the new territory that Nakahira had reached.
Limited to 600, numbered.
