Ruthbook by Nigel Shafran
British photographer Nigel Shafran's first book.
This book is a personal work, mainly featuring portraits of his wife, Ruth, taken between June 1992 and January 1995. There are many artists who deal with similar subjects, but Shafran describes himself as a "snapshot photographer with a large-format camera," and his photographs, taken with a larger camera held firmly in place, have a unique appeal that cannot be categorized simply as snapshots or classical portraits. In this book, the photographs are arranged in a fragmented yet flowing sequence, giving the book a strong sense of strength despite the small number of pages. The title of the work on the cover has been written by the artist on each book.
Limited to 600 copies.
