(Equity g value d) Transparent by Daisuke Yokota
A photo book by Japanese photographer Daisuke Yokota.
Daisuke Yokota creates unique photographs through repeated copying and thermal development, and produces an endless number of artist books based on these photographs. His performances and installations, which overemphasized the materiality of photography, caused a huge sensation in the photography world of the 2010s. This book is an artist's book in which Yokota himself reinterprets and reconstructs his photo book "VERTIGO," published in 2014 by the independent Japanese publisher "Newfave."
"One of Yokota's works is characterized by the alteration and manipulation of existing images, and in a departure from his previous monochrome works, the majority of his work is in color. It is composed of images printed on transparent film sheets, several sheets of color film, and white paper. Film is also an important material in Yokota's creative process. The layers of images created by overlapping multiple transparent sheets amplify the abstraction of the visuals, creating a seductive visual experience that blurs the timeline."
