House of the Stray Dog ─ Cole Flynn Quirke
A photobook tracing youth, nostalgia and the solitude of adulthood through a diaristic visual sequence.
House of the Stray Dog is a new visual odyssey by British photographer Cole Flynn Quirke, photographed over the two years following his autobiographical work Even a Maniac Can Learn to Drive (Jane & Jeremy), which drew on the artist’s own youth and nostalgia. Across a sequence of full-page photographs, punctuated by fragments of collage, the book creates brief pauses for reflection while unfolding a visual narrative shaped by the bitterness of self-awareness and the loneliness of growing up. Recurring motifs resembling webs and veils, alongside living creatures that seem to carry both life and death, guide the viewer into the heart of chaos.
