もうひとつのヨーロッパ ANOTHER CONTINENT
Exhibition catalog for the group exhibition "Another Continent of Europe" held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography from January 28 to March 22, 1994.
This exhibition, which was held as the last project at the first opening facility at that time, did not show works from Western Europe, which had many opportunities to be introduced, but from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, and other countries. For the first time in Japan, eight artists from the region called "Central Europe", including the Czech Republic, were introduced. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and the European Union (EU) was founded in 1993, while political, economic, and ethnic problems remained. In this context, this exhibition focuses on the expressions of the regions that shared their cultural identities before the East-West Wall was built, which was revived in such a situation. I'm trying to rethink photography.
