The Design Plot by Shelley Lasica

Perimeter Editions

A collection of works by Australian dancer/choreographer Shelley Lasica.

This first collection of Rasika's work in her more than 30-year career is a record of her ever-evolving practice, and a book that explores the relationship between the body, architectural space, imagination, and memory. The collaborative work from which the book takes its title, The Design Pot, is a performance piece that has been performed repeatedly with various dancers in various locations from 2017 to 2020. In the accompanying text, project producer Zoe Theodore describes the performance as "a collective conversation that is constantly interrogated, whether continuously or cumulatively." Organized and amorphous at the same time, the images split and overlap in a careful and cumulative flow of gestures, people, movements, and architecture, and are edited in a unique sequenced photobook-like structure.

First edition of 600 copies.
