A collection of works by UK-based photographer/curator/lecturer Adam Murray and UK-based photographer Robert Parkinson.
This book is a documentary book that follows the project "PRESTON IS MY PARIS" launched in 2009 for 10 years. It examines ten years of independent work to explore themes such as everyday life, local identity, and the role photography and culture play in places away from major urban centers. In July 2009, the duo started a project on the theme of Preston, England, using a copier-printed zine to spread their work. Ten years later, this project, which was rooted in the medium of photography, has expanded beyond publications to include installations, live events, digital apps, education, and writing for specific locations.
Murray was a teacher of photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, and Hawkesworth's masterpiece "Preston Bus Station" was published in a free paper produced as part of the "Preston Is My Paris" project at the time. It was created in response to a request for a portrait shoot.
