Opening with an image of a pair of large eyes peering through the blinds of a shopfront in Mestre, Venice, the book brings together previously unpublished photographs taken with a Dierdorf 8x10 between 1984 and 1989, marking the first time the artist has used a large format camera for the duration of a single project. The subject of this work, a region in central Veneto, is known for having undergone rapid change over time. Uncontrolled urban expansion has left deep scars on Italy's open countryside.
