Curtain Issue 1: Fumiyo Ikeda
The inaugural issue of Curtain, a Tokyo-based independent magazine.
This issue features dancer Fumiyo Ikeda, a founding member of the Belgium-based dance company "Rosas." The project took place in September 2012 and was photographed by photographer Hiroo Koike, who is based in Estonia and Japan. The continuous movements of the body in the performance are transformed and reconstructed into a fragmented sequence that contains the unique margins of photography. Although the composition is simple and minimal, the delicate combination of the opposing elements of the continuity of the dance and the discontinuity of the photograph allows for a new viewing experience that is different from watching a performance in front of you.
First edition of 500 copies.
