444/Celestial Means of Locomotion by Luca Reffo

Départ Pour l'Image

A collection of works by Italian artist Luca Refo.

"444" is the number of days Vincent van Gogh spent in Arles, in the south of France, between February 1888 and May 1889. Driven by a desire for bright colors, dreams of Japan, and new business opportunities, his studies led him to a revolutionary vision of painting, particularly landscape painting, which he could perceive as a measure of the world's emotions and a mirror of the soul. The project, which included paintings, photographs, and drawings, saw Van Gogh transform Arles and the surrounding area into outdoor studies.444It is a reflection on his work over the last few days and attempts to present from a different perspective his highly dedicated research aimed at conceiving beauty as a synthesis of the spirit.
