Sidewalk Stills by Charles Negre

A collection of works by French photographer Charles Negret.

In the great tradition of noble and archaic artistic genres, Charles Négret has created a series of ultra-contemporary still lifes at the end of a Parisian market. Négret takes his camera out of his studio and into the field, photographing objects that have been discarded there. Playing with the codes of advertising, the series explores the visual impact of seemingly ordinary, disposable subjects, creating images that shock, delight and make visible food waste and overconsumption.
