PARKETT by Tiane Doan na Champassak

A collection of works by French artist Thiang Doan Na Champasak.

In this book, Thian Doan Na Champasak works on his own collection of Parquet, a representative art magazine published between 1984 and 2017. His sensitive approach consists of isolating a significant number of double-page spreads displaying gallery advertisements from the first five years of Parquet. Consistent in style and form, these advertisements are artworks in themselves, reflecting the primacy of text over image in the conceptual production of the time. He demonstrates the recurring presence of certain artists in the gallery landscape of the 1980s, including Marcel Broedthèse, Michael Heizer, Louise Bourgeois, Ed Ruscha, Richard Prince, Anish Kapoor and Cindy Sherman.
