Les Belles Images by Thomas Mailaender
A collection of works by French multimedia artist Thomas Mayländer.
This book was published to coincide with the artist's first major retrospective in Paris, which will run from June 12 to September 29, 2024 at the Musée de la Photographie de Paris. In keeping with the exhibition's innovative approach, which breaks away from traditional graphic and visual displays, Mayländer has opted for an original format and content that is unusual for an exhibition catalogue. Through two images he has compiled (photographs and 3D views), the reader is invited to explore the work in progress as if visiting his studio, and take part in a deliberately low-tech virtual tour of the exhibition. The book is accompanied by texts by art historian Luce Rubato, Simon Baker, director of the European Museum of Photography and curator of the exhibition, and Aden Vinsand, co-curator of the exhibition.
