How to Drive by Katerina Moschou
Katerina Moschou/ZOETROPE ATHENS
A photobook by Greek artist Katerina Moschou.
How to Drive follows Moschou as she steps into her father’s car repair workshop, reclaiming a space long familiar yet somehow distant to her as a woman.
On a daily basis, she recorded herself driving, setting aside time to observe each movement. Through this process, she consciously explored the language of her body—the series of gestures inherent to the act of being the driver. As her exploration deepened, a unique, almost ritualistic relationship emerged between her body and its surroundings, between her limbs and the parts of the car, taking on the qualities of a dance. Through an approach that could be described as almost cinematic, the car is transformed into a ceremonial space where everyday life and the realm of possibility are redefined.
