The Museum of Mistakes by Pierre Leguillon
A collection of works by French artist Pierre Leguillon.
This book is the result of a collaboration with Le Guillon called "The Museum of Mistakes (MUSEUM This is the first collection to present the diverse body of work from the museum of mistakes, which the artist started in 2013 in Brussels, Belgium, and which travels between museums like a traveling circus. When there are no exhibitions, the works are stored in the artist's home, mainly in a kitchen cupboard. Most of the works are made from materials that have little material value: postcards, record sleeves, posters large and small, fabrics, ceramics, folk art, children's drawings, and a variety of other miscellaneous objects. In addition to works that have been deemed too small, fragile, or insignificant to be displayed in a traveling exhibition, this book also includes everyday street photos that show different aspects of the collection. In our modern times, visual culture that has no practical or aesthetic value is shared on social media and the internet, often without or with incorrect captions. By constantly rearranging and reorganizing these works, the aim is to reexamine conventional interpretations and humorously subvert the sort of cultural "prêt-à-porter" on offer in every museum these days.
