Extreme Tourism by Thomas Mailaender

A collection of works by French photographer Thomas Mailaender.

Mayländer mainly collects and archives images he finds on the internet. One day, he discovered Steve Young, a Hawaii-based photographer who collects information on volcanic eruptions. In addition to an impressive gallery of volcano photos, his website also features a "Volcano Fantasy Photo Business" that perfectly resonates with Mayländer's work. For a few dollars, Young offers to create composite photos that make it seem as if you've explored the sides of some of the most dangerous craters. Mayländer donned his own aloha shirt and decided to join the project.
