Eggs And Rarities by Paul Kooiker

A collection of works by Dutch artist Paul Kooiker.

This book was published in conjunction with the solo exhibition "UNTITLED (NUDE)", curated by Joachim Naudts, held at FOMU (Antwerp Photography Museum) from June 29th to October 7th 2018.

"This "encyclopaedia of life," which comes from a fantasy world unfolding on a grand scale, features a wide variety of photographs, including landscapes, nudes, and still lifes. To create a sample book-like atmosphere, the work often uses clichés reminiscent of advertising slogans found in tourist brochures and phrases used in the media to discuss politics and religion. The artist also increasingly sneaks personal elements into his work. While appearing to be an objective approach at first glance, intimate and private photographs peek out, and personal and public spaces overflow beyond each other's realms. The result is a masterpiece in which the complexities of the artist, the medium of photography, and life and death converge toward one point." Joachim Naudts
