A photo book by Dutch photographer Bertien van Manen.

This work is composed of photographs that van Manen took while visiting Ireland between 2013 and 2015. The artist is known for taking photographs that involve interactions with people he meets on his travels, but the majority of this work is landscape photography. Van Manen often photographed the west coast of Ireland, which is the edge of Europe and the end of the world, and he felt there a sense of endlessness, destruction, death, as well as poetic and mythical elements. This is the most emotional and poetic work in the artist's collection.

"At first, I didn't know what I was looking for when I went to Ireland to shoot. My husband had passed away. I didn't think about people, I thought about the atmosphere. I was guided by a longing for a certain meaning, a feeling and a search, in a place of myth and legend. There was a sense of mystery and boundlessness at the edge of a land that was nothing but vastness." - Bertian van Manen (from the text of this book)
