ドイツ人写真家、ヴォルフガング・ティルマンスによる作品集。

2025年6月13日から9月22日まで、ポンピドゥー・センターはティルマンスに「カルト・ブランシュ（自由裁量）」を与え、館内プログラムの締めくくりとして大規模なプロジェクトを開催した。公共情報図書館（BPI）の2階全体を用いた実験的インスタレーションは、空間を根本から変容させ、かつての図書館と対話を築き上げている。建築として、また知識伝達の場としてのあり方を問い直しつつ、35年以上にわたる芸術実践を多様な写真ジャンルを通して探究し、図書館空間に呼応するかたちでティルマンス自身の世界観を提示した。

本書は、このユニークなプロジェクトの軌跡を収録。図版セクションでは、作品図版と多数のインスタレーション風景が交互に展開され、ティルマンスがどのように空間を「自らのもの」としたのかを示す。さらに若手世代の著者たちによる多彩な論考が収められ、ティルマンスの仕事に新たな光を投げかけている。

5年間に及ぶ大規模改修工事を前にした、ポンピドゥー・センター閉館直前の最後のプロジェクト。現代写真を牽引するティルマンスによる大胆かつ繊細な試みを、272ページ・600点以上の図版で堪能できる一冊です。
