Museum Het Domein, Sittard/the Fine Art Department/Jan Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht

From June 27th to August 20th, 2000, the "Jan Van Eyck Academie", a post-academic institute for research and production in the fields of art, design and art theory, based in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and Moldova An exhibition catalog produced for an exhibition held at the Sittard Domain Museum in the Netherlands with the cooperation of "KSA: K Center for Contemporary Art".

Based on the idea of clarifying and reversing the inside and outside of institutionalized museums and institutions, this is a collection of various internal documents and records, including the minutes of the exhibition. It is a unique pictorial record/documentary.

"As the 20th century draws to a close, young artists are pursuing new paradigm shifts and practicing them. The art world has not been able to keep up with this movement: political/geographic centers such as Jan Van Eyck Academie and KSA:K. and art mainstream institutions each seek in their own way to provide the right environment for new artistic ideas, debate, and experimentation, but the institutions themselves are constantly questioning their own legitimacy. We are well aware of the fact that it will never succeed unless we look at it.The seemingly innocent title of 'Somebody's Holding the Door Open' audits the institution and introduces new elements in the artistic process. It became an effective parameter to clarify, and as a result, the exhibition and publication that clarified 'inside and outside' were completed." -Excerpt from the preface
