Today Is The First Day by Wolfgang Tillmans
A collection of works by German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans.
This book was published to coincide with the exhibitions "Rebuilding the Future" at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and "Today Is The First Day" at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Brussels (WIELS). Conceived and designed by the artist himself, the book looks back on the evolution of his work over the past three years with a wealth of drawings, installation views and text. The book also features over 30 pages of set design for English National Opera's War Requiem, as well as recent portraits and installation photography that has been exhibited around the world, including in France, Germany, Hong Kong and South Africa.
(Excerpt from distributor's commentary)
Tillmans won the Turner Prize, a prestigious award in the contemporary art world, in 2000, solidifying his position as one of the most important contemporary photographers. This large-volume collection of his works is recommended not only for existing fans, but also for those who want to know why he is so highly regarded.
