The Earth Is Only A Little Dust Under Our Feet by Bego Antón
A collection of works by Spanish photographer Bego Antón.
"This is an amazing, fairy-tale story of the Icelandic people, who believe that magical creatures - elves, trolls, fairies and monsters - live everywhere and interact with people on a daily basis. Vigo travelled across Iceland, visiting fortune tellers and believers to record never-before-seen portraits, fairy-tale landscapes and compelling, unforgettable stories. Vigo Anton graduated from the Icelandic Elf School and holds a degree in Elves and Secret People. 'If there's a place where people believe in magic, Iceland is definitely it,' says Anton. And with this book, she takes you through the hidden world. You're invited on an adventure to find a huldufólk (Icelandic elf)! If you're lucky, you'll feel a little tug on your stocking, signifying that a cheery elf is by your side.
Vigo traveled the majestic country from north to south, east to west, searching for the places where fairytale creatures live. She searched every gas station, library, grocery store, and hotel for people who could communicate with these beings, and found people with the special ability to see them. She didn't give in to the elements of Iceland's harsh winters, or the fact that she was a Spanish-speaking stranger trekking in a remote area. Her curiosity and imagination drove her on her adventure and protected her along the way. The people Vigo visited shared with her very personal experiences with the magical creatures of this world, which are revealed in this book. "I'm not a fantasist, but I believe that everything in this world is worth investigating, and maybe there is a world between reality and imagination," Vigo said at the end of her journey. - Publisher's commentary
