Saturated Light by Wolfgang Tillmans
A collection of works by German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans.
Tillmans has been creating a new world of abstract photography through his representative work "Silver," which he has been working on for nearly 30 years. This series, which was created in a darkroom by directly exposing photographic paper to light and photosensitive emulsion without using a camera, explores the limits of the photographic process and the possibilities of expression, greatly expanding the possibilities of photography. Tillmans describes these works as "dirty, impure, vivid, unstable, worn, elusive, unclear, and sparkling, like solid colors." In addition to images of the works, the book also includes many images of the "Silver" series placed in the space of an exhibition, such as the installation at "K21" in Dusseldorf, Germany in 2013, and the exhibition scenes of "Silver" alone at "Tate Britain" in London (2003), the Venice Biennale (2009), and "WIELS" in Brussels (2020).
