Deep Springs by Sam Contis

A collection of works by American photographer Sam Contis.

Set at a university in California, this book explores the place itself, the stories surrounding the university, and masculine identity. The university is a small, all-male school that has a policy of "holistic education," where students are exposed to nature and the local area in fields such as livestock farming and agriculture in addition to academic classes, and the author follows the students there. In addition to photographs taken by Contis, the book also features photographs of the first class of students who enrolled almost a century ago.
