A collection of works by Archivist Addendum, a London-based publishing project.

Archivist Addendum was founded in 2020 by fashion director Jane Howard and writer Dal Chodha. Unconstrained by the conventions of format and season that are important in the world of fashion magazines, the magazine aims to explore new possibilities for expression between standardized fashion editorials and difficult academic fields.

This first publication is a compilation of the research results of the international and interdisciplinary project "Fashion Interpretations: Dress, Medium & Meaning," led by Rebecca Arnold of the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London, and Judith Clark of the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. As the title suggests, the book focuses on the relationship between clothing, medium, meaning, and society.

The box contains a literal collection of fragments of research conducted in a variety of formats, from visual approaches such as ephemera that focuses on the aesthetics of second-hand clothing sold online, postcards that convert fashion photographs into drawings, a collection of archives from the fashion label BLAAK, which was active from 1998 to 2012, and A1-sized posters printed with idea boards, to academic explorations such as a discussion of the snapshots that Claude Lévi-Strauss took in São Paulo around 1935 as a study of cities and citizens, and an essay that explores the double meaning of the relationship between exhibition production and medium.

Not only fashion editorials and academia, but also fashion magazinesIt is an ambitious work that explores an alternative territory, somewhere between a literary magazine and an artist book.
