The work features photographs of the midstream area of the Tama River and the plants that grow naturally there, subjects Yokota has continued to photograph in recent years. The series was produced through his distinctive darkroom practice, including the use of printed photographs as negatives and exposing photographic paper to light within the room rather than using an enlarger.

By embracing unpredictable elements such as residual developer and exposure to outside light, the images of plants acquire roughened and faded surfaces, creating a sense of distance from the places and moments in which they were photographed. The book brings together the recurring transformations of plant life along the Tama River with the ways in which photographs themselves change through processes of reproduction and degradation.
