A Bullet for Buñuel- Fragments of a Failed Bullet by Rick Myers
A collection of works by British artist Rick Myers.
Luis Buñuel is a Spanish-born film director who later became a naturalized Mexican. This work is a record of Meyers' attempt to complete the unfinished project left behind by Buñuel, who passed away in 1983.
The project consisted of creating a bullet with a weak charge that would bounce off if shot at Buñuel's own shirt. Consulting sources ranging from heritage foundations and online forums for bullet makers to ballistics laboratories associated with the U.S. Secret Service, Myers built the bullet that Buñuel eventually landed. I shot at the shirt I was wearing. At nearly every turn, Myers faced a multitude of characters and setbacks in his attempt to pull off this absurd endeavour. "Bullet for Buñuel" has various formats such as video, multiple works, and performance lectures, but this book covers all of them comprehensively. Also included are Myers' writings, research, correspondence, and photographs, summarizing his years of research, with all its missteps, in one colossal project.
