Renowned for its restoration of historic buildings, the Belmond hotel group has been collaborating with leading contemporary photographers to produce a series of photobooks—each one pairing an artist with a selected property in a carefully curated dialogue between place and vision. In this volume, Rousset turns his singular gaze toward Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, a luxury hotel located in Oxfordshire, England, to explore the unique narrative hidden within its grounds.

Set in a 15th-century manor house, the project draws inspiration from two distinct sources: imagined notions of aristocratic British life and the surreal, romanticised countryside seen in old English films. By placing ordinary objects and figures in strange, dreamlike contexts, Rousset unsettles the viewer’s sense of reality and invites reflection on what is truly being seen. His fairy tale–like images go far beyond a simple presentation of the hotel’s features and aesthetic. They weave a narrative, encouraging the viewer to project themselves into this opulent world and experience it as a visual story.
