Migrations, Givors by Alexandre Guirkinger

RVB Books

The 21 landscape photographs included in this book were created in March 2022 by the exhibition space and resource center "Stimultania" hosted by French photographer Alexandre Gilkingel, and "CADA Le Moulin Exile Reception Center". The photo was taken through a photography workshop co-organized with the non-profit organization Forum réfugiés. The workshop was attended by six immigrants who recently settled in Givores in eastern France. Ali Rahmani, Hukadou A, Habibollah R, Naseem Rahimi, Nicol M, Nuhas K, Omid M, Suleiman N and others talk about the places that left an impression on them from the moment they first arrived in the city, and every day. He listed the places he has visited, his favorite places, and places that symbolize France. After doing some initial research and having a conversation with Alexander Gilkingel, he took photographs using an 8 x 10 inch large format camera. All participants printed contact sheets with their own photos and created captions in their native language.
