May The Circle Remain Unbroken ─ Corinne Day

Mörel Books

A posthumous volume bringing together previously unpublished early works by one of the most influential image-makers in fashion and documentary photography.

May The Circle Remain Unbroken is a photobook by British photographer Corinne Day. Day’s photographs had a profound influence on a generation of image-makers working across both fashion and documentary photography. Grounded in her own life and relationships, her work recorded youth culture with an unflinching snapshot realism, revealing a world that existed behind the glamour of fashion while resisting fictionalisation and voyeurism.

Day became widely known both for the controversial 1993 Vogue photograph of Kate Moss and for helping define what came to be known as grunge fashion photography, a position that for a time placed her at odds with the mainstream fashion press. She later returned to the worlds of fashion and art, with works exhibited and collected by galleries and museums internationally. Published after her death in August 2010, this was the first book to appear posthumously, bringing together a series of previously unpublished early works and offering a renewed view of her lasting significance as a photographer.
