Jane & Jeremy

An artist book by British photographer Véronique Laurent.

The title of the work, 54°0′13.176″N 2°32′52.278″W, is the coordinate of where the centre of the British Isles would be if it were fixed to the mainland at that exact location by an invisible wire. Located in the most remote part of the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the site is made up of heathered peat bogs, ancient woodland and rocky coarse-grained sandstone plateau, interspersed with rivers. By capturing the essence of this isolated place through a film and a fieldwork-based artist book, the project opens up new dialogues on cartography, landscape, the British people and the spirituality of the British Isles in contemporary notions of the sublime.

Limited to 106 copies, signed and numbered by the artist.
