Journey to Nakaji by Moriyama Daimichi

蒼穹舎

A collection of works by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.

The "Nakaji" in the title refers to Yasui Nakaji, a legendary photographer who was active in Osaka from the 1920s to the 1940s. Daido Moriyama, who greatly admired Yasui, created this work as a tribute to him. The book is a collection of works with glimpses of homage here and there, and is a record of a journey to the vast land of Yasui. This book was published as the second collection by Sokyusha, which also published Fukase Masahisa's "Crow" in 1986. The composition is modern, in a way uncharacteristic of Moriyama, with large white space and a strong awareness of sequence.
