Through Rousset's irreverent approach, this book explores the extraordinary story behind Le Manoir aux Cats Saisons, a hotel in Oxfordshire, England.

Ruse's images of this 15th century manor house were inspired by two different sources: first, an imagined lavish lifestyle of the English aristocracy; second, he was influenced by the "unrealistic and fantastical aspects" of the rural lifestyle depicted in old British films. By placing ordinary objects and figures in a strange, dreamlike context, he disrupts the viewer's sense of reality and invites them to consider what they are looking at. His fairy-tale-like images do not simply showcase the hotel's facilities and aesthetics, but create a captivating visual narrative that tells a story and invites the viewer to project themselves into this exquisite setting.
