Harlemville by Clare Richardson
A collection of works by British photographer Clare Richardson.
This book contains photographs taken in a small community in North America that follows the "Waldorf/Waldorf education" advocated by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Freedom of expression, creativity, and imagination are encouraged above all here, and the goal is to acquire a free-spirited confidence and identity in nature that is almost nonexistent in modern American society. Richardson happened to visit a friend who lives there, and was fascinated by their respect for nature and the "confident serenity" of this small community. The photographs taken by the author over a period of two years are full of quiet strength and freshness, as the author says that his visit to this place completely changed his values in life and education.
Now it has become one of the UK's leading photo book publishers.MACKThis is one of the masterpieces left behind by SteidlMACK, a little-known publishing company that Michael Mack, president of Steidl, established under the umbrella of the German master publisher Steidl just before the launch of MACK.
